Red Snapper

Red Snapper are known for their rosy red color that fades a bit towards their belly. They have red eyes. Red Snapper will spawn over 20 times a year.

Size: Red Snapper will grow to over 20 lbs

Tarpon

Tarpons have long but powerful bodies and are known for their aerobatics when hooked.  These fish are very aggressive fighters and are highly sought after game fish.

Size: 8 feet long; can exceed 345 lbs

Speckeled Trout

Speckled Sea Trout have an elongated body with a lower jaw that sticks out further than their upper jaw.  Their color depends on the waters in which they live but most are greenish with spots on their backs.

Size: 1-3 lbs is typical with males growing up to 5 lbs and females 10 lbs

Best Time To Catch – Oct – July

Pompano

Pompano have relativity short but deep body.  Pompano’s have different coloring but most are a combination of blues and greens that fade into grey.

Size: 17-25 inches

Best Time To Fish: March – June

Red Fish

Red Fish are distinguished by the large black spot on the top of the tail.  These fish can vary in color but most commonly they are a reddish-bronze.

Size: Fish can range from 1-20+ lbs

Best Time To Fish: Year Round

Sheep's Head

Sheepshead have an oval shaped deep body and are silver in color with an olive back.  Four to five dark colored vertical stripes typically run down the side of the fish.

Size: Most fish are in the 1-8 lb range with an occasional fish up to 20 lbs

Best Time To Catch: December – April

Spanish Mackerel

 

The Spanish Mackerel has a long body with a pointed snout.  The body is cover by tiny silvery scales with a blue-green hue.

Size: Average 8-11 lbs

Best Time To Fish:  Summer

Cobia

 

The Cobia is torpedo shaped with a smooth skin covered with tiny scales.  It is a dark brown or copper color and has a lower jaw that sticks out further than the upper jaw.

Size: most Cobia are under 50 lbs but occasionally are caught up to 100 lbs

Best Time To Fish: March 15 – May

King Mackerel

King Mackerel are a long silver fish with very few markings.  The dorsal fins are black with blue green tones.

Size: The largest King Mackerel caught was just under 100 lbs with most under 30 lbs

Trigger Fish

 

Trigger Fish have a hard bony mouth and are known to steal the fisherman’s bait because they are so hard to hook.  These fish come in various colors but are distinguished by their pointed mouths.

Size: Most Trigger Fish are in the 3-5 lb range with an occasional fish reaching 10 lbs.

Best Time To Catch: Summer

Flounder

Flounder are a flat brownish fish that have both of their eyes on the same side of their head.  They lay on the bottom of the ocean and feed on fish remains and spawn.

Size: Most in the 5-10lb range with an occasional larger fish

Tripletail

Tripletail are stout but deep fish that are distinguished by what looks like a Triple Tail.  Most fish are a dark grey but also can be a greenish blue.

Size: Most in the 3-5 lb range

Best Time To Catch: June – October
